Wordpress Question : no index on category?

I dont run a gaming site, but I'm thinking about reporting some gaming news on my site but don't want my site to get deemed as "games". Is it possible to just gaming news in one category and set this category to no index via robots etc?

Or am I just better off doing it for every particular post. In addition, is this a good idea on how to proceed with this? Or am I still taking a big risk?

ie. I want members to still be able to view the site while at work etc.

You can do that but there are no guarantees because there is the issue of people back linking to the category/page. If they begin tagging games to your URL, then games related it is. I believe content in iframes is not followed by Google, but there is no getting around back-links.

I've been told googlebot will only read iframes if the content is from the same domain. In his case, it would be, so google would read it.

as for backlinking, I don't think that matters. If the page is tagged NOINDEX then googlebot should respect that and not let it show up in results no matter how many backlinks. but really, does it matter? do companies use a google rank to build website filters? I don't think so...

even if you do stop the bots from indexing, what makes you think that would keep the website safe from work proxy filters? they tend to read the website's html, not the website's google rank.

Well we've had a gaming section in the forums for years, and the site has never been deemed as games. I have another WP site that covers movies and we dropped like 2-3 posts on some games and got it deemed as games. Ultimately I was able to get that corrected by submitting the site and getting it re classified as Entertainment.

But jut saying, seemed like it had something to do with that ... perhaps the inclusion of keywords being automatically inserted with all in one seo plugin or something. *shrug*
