Action popup Programmers?, Trouble shooting- can you fix this ?

Are there any programmers who have done many installs of Action popup, who can check my code for a glitch.

Dont private message me!, as I am waiting from other messages about somthing else, but state here.

Please state here/answer if you have the programming experience to check it.

Heres the action popup problem

I need some basic action popup assistance. The optin feature works but is mainly an appearance issue.

I need my action popup page to be checked/tweaked, so help for the popup script would be appreciated here.

My popup code is inserted, but the popup is Not appearing properly.
I want it to appear at the middle of the page, with the background turning red after 5 seconds.

But instead it is appearing at the bottom of the page, and the background of the page is Not going red, or whatever colour I choose.

- it works fine in firefox, but not in I.E, and the optin form feature works, it is mainly the Appearance.

How I need it: Appearing the middle of the page, after 5 seconds, with the background going red.

How It is coming: It is appearing at the bottom of the page, without the background going red, after 5 seconds.

Please state here/answer if you have the programming experience to check it.

NB= I dont want to expose the site/niche to everybody, so i dont want to paste the url here, but if you have experience in action popup then please say so.

Never heard of nor do I really care about "action popup", but a quick look at their website shows that "action popup" is actually this jQuery plugin: Fancybox which is something I've used plenty of times.

If you actually paid for "action popup", you paid for a free, open source jQuery plugin. There is nothing illegal about them selling it, but I find it somewhat suspect.

Anyway, the problem probably has nothing to do with the popup, and is probably something specific to the page in question. No way for me to tell without actually seeing the page, however.

The developers of jquery, be it plugin developers or those who really modify aspects of jquery to create a truly unique plugin does not mean they are "suspect". Ultimately, those who use jquery, or the jquery UI to create a unique plugin for Wordpress in order to sell is not "suspect".

It's like this. I know xhtml/css + photoshop very well. If someone were to create a css based design template that also included PSDs, even though "I" totally understood and know EXACTLY what they did to create the tempalte, does not mean they are wrong for selling it as most people probably don't have the skills nor do they have the time to create it themselves?

*** having said all that, I do appreciate what you've done with WowWindow. It looks like you tweaked a jquery plugin but, overall, it's a cool effect

I did the lion's share of the work on WowWindow, though I did integrate someone else's "monkey patch" for jQuery (not really a plugin properly speaking) into the plugin. The monkey patch allows animation of the CSS3 "transform" property.

There's also another plugin that it's built on called "overlayPlayground", but I wrote that one myself and have used it on other projects.

I understand your point about people packaging a free plugin and reselling it. It isn't really wrong, it just takes advantage of people who don't know any better and can't do it themselves (no matter how easy it is in reality).

@Wayfarer - how does WowWindow look in Internet Explorer, particularly IE6/7? Does it pretty much function just the same?

  It doesn't do the same zoom and rotate effect, no, but it works fine otherwise. There's a slight imitation of a zoom when dealing with images, similar to lightbox. IE7 and IE8 function the same. The overlay currently doesn't stay in a "fixed" position in IE6. I know what the fix is, but haven't gotten to it yet. It's one of the changes I'm going to make before I make it officially not a "beta".
  
  IE8 and below do not support the CSS3 "transform" property, so zooming and rotation will not function in these browsers. IE9 is supposed to support it, but so far this feature has not been in the beta (it was in the preview version, however). The RC1 version is rumored to be released later today, and if they've updated it with CSS3 transformations (I'm optimistic), by the time IE9 is released and adapted, the majority of users on the web will be able to see the window in its full capabilities.

Don't you just love IE6! lol

Sounds very cool mate! Not sure if this would make any difference but have you checked out css3pie.com? It seems to allow certain CSS3 elements to work in IE (6,7,8) but not sure if it would help with jquery (you can tell I'm a noob to this stuff lol).

Anyway, it's a very cool plugin you've created there.

I hear ya lol. However, until they kill IE6, I still feel this obligation to at least make sure things are aligned, etc. Don't get me wrong, I HATE IE6 with a passion! lol

I just used css3pie on a site for a client. I really didn't need to to be honest but wanted to see if I could get those rounded corners on the CSS3 buttons and sure enough it worked (albeit I had to use IE specific stylesheets as usual).

Anyway, I totally hear what you're saying!

No one is going to be able to answer your question without looking at the page you're implementing it on. It sounds like you need a front-end / JavaScript / CSS person to root around on your site's code for a little bit and figure out what is causing the issue. From your description, it could be anything from a loose DOCTYPE to malformed code (such as tags not being closed properly). Since it's only in IE, I would guess the former, but I have no way of supporting this hypothesis without looking at the actual page. Sorry.

Doughnuts to dollars says its something with the document.viewport.getHeight() getting the wrong value. Worked through a similiar bug with this on a site using a jQuery plugin which embedded (improperly) Prototype Lightbox. What a mess. At any rate, something was overriding the viewport height to the Page height. But, yeah need to code ... pastebin?
