Please Help Me Remove Date from Google Meta Description

PROGRAMMING

I have a Wordpress site and I'm trying to find out how to remove the date from the meta description that Google shows. I'm updating that particular page but it still shows the older date from when I first published it. I've searched this forum and the internet but I still can't find the answer. There's a lot of theories on how to do it but I don't want to screw anything up. Any ideas or plug-ins you can recommend that will remove the date?

The meta tags are usually added by the header.php from your current theme.
Only the description meta tag has any business being there these days.

  You should be able to use just the "quick edit" feature that will be under each Post or Page entry. Just hover below the title in your dashboard and it will appear.
  
  As for Google changing the date, it is going to be up to the next time the page gets crawled. Make a new site map and submit to Google Webmaster tools would be my best advice. A good plug in to have is "XML Sitemap Generator"
