Is there any Python fans? I chose it as my first programming language both for myself (doing programs for some task I have to do on my computer) and probably do some utilities for internet marketers. Do you think it's a good choice?

Python's a great all-purpose language. If you use it for web-tools, it is best to use a framework such as Django, since Python wasn't designed for the web (though it's more than capable of handling it).

I really like python, but agree about using it with a framework.

I don't see why it would not be good for creating hosted utilities. Have you tried using Google AppEngine for these?

I'm not sure how good it would be for selling web based products developed in Python (scripts etc..).

Python is an agile programming language. Note that Java and C languages are not agile, but Ruby is probably based on what I know about Ruby. If you use Jython with Java which also agile.
