1. Do all datafeeds require downloading mySQL server ?
2. Any datafeeds that dont?

      Datafeeds from a webservice? If that is the case you would only need MySQL if you were saving the resulting data from the call to the webservice.

    You usually WANT to save data. saving it can be complicated, unless you lock the import in single user mode, and reading it can be difficult if there is a LOT. Currently, THAT is what database servers are used for. They simplify it a lot. The cheapest one that is decent and easy to use is mysql.
