How to make good website?

I have completed my BE(IT) last semester and after few days compulsory to submit live project throughout a company. I have completed my live project, my friend told me that it is good but I think I have missed something in it and it is not more attractive.     It's very busy with a lot of really small text. I'd start by reducing the number of separate elements, removing lots of text from the homepage, and increasing the font size on remaining elements.
