How to deal with the problem of different formats when using FCP X

I download hundreds of videos about birds migrating. They almost include all the video formats you can imagine. My teacher wants me to show the video to my classmates. Hundreds of videos with different formats can't be shown over even in a month. I need to choose several and merge together, then import into FCP X to edit. What worse is FCP X can only support ProRes and MOV files. It's a real problem to deal with such miscellaneous format videos. I need help.

FCP X can can only support ProRes and MOV files???
As far as I known, the latest FCP X supports any QuickTime compatible video format including DV, HDV, P2 MXF (DVCProHD), XDCAM, and 2K film formats. And also i can import 1080i mts video files from an AVCHD camcorder.

I have a panasonic tm900 camcorder and I usually used to record my daughter's song match. If I use 1080i, I indeed import MTS clips directly from my camcorder. But the footages i took in 1080p can not be readable by FCP X.

As far as I known, it can support various video files. No doubt, MOV is its favourite. Regarding your problem, I think a video converter can help you out. If possible, a program which is able to export ProRes video is the best choice.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi man
It seems like you are now in trouble. When you have to deal with so many different format videos,i suggest you to use final mate. it can help you to convert all the videos to the format you choose at the same time. and i don't think the others have such functions.as FCP X can only support MOV and ProRes, you just need to use final mate to convert them to MOV or PreRes.
    good luck
