OMG! Can I get some help on this

7 replies
So today has been nothing but a scavenger hunt for my index.html that offers the home page source code in it.

Since I'm not very savvy with all the lingo, bear with me. I am trying to utilize the title tags of my html. However, when i go into my root directory, I find a bunch of php. I have went through almost every file and I still can't find it.

My hosting is through iPage. I thought I found it, but the message said "directory access forbidden." We had our website built, so I'm not sure where to go from here...except to get a drink or something

Super frustrated!

    Is your Home Page visible on the web?

    If so, maybe you have an index.php instead of an index.html page.

    Why not contact the folks you purchased it from?

    yea it's visible. I've just looked in the index.php, and I sent an email to the peeps that built it. Everything just looks different from what I'm used to seeing.

    So, there are several different index.php files in various folders. I guess a better question to ask is;

    What folder would index.html or index.php be located?

    Thanks~

    Look for a folder called "Template" or "Includes", what kind of an application is this? You will most probably find what you are looking for inside a file called header.php.

    fraser thanks. i'm gonna take a look now. It's something he built specifically for us. Kind of locked us down, because anytime we need something we have to go to him. Be back shortly with an answer

      I don't think that's likely . Unless he went through some extra effort in locking you down; any experienced PHP Developer can take care of the work.

    oh i don't mean he did it intentionally or fraudulently. It's just we have to rely on him more since the back office is different. I'm sure he'll give me an answer. He did a really good job.
