Just bought a Script

Hello Folks,

I have a quick question:

I just bought a dating script (datingpro.com) and I was having someone customizing the site, and they told me that is better start from ground up because of security(because a lot of people have it) and load time.

I just spent almost ($1000) on it unfortunately, I did not want it to go to waste, but if what's he is saying is true, I do not want to spend more money modifying a script and then have more headaches in the future.

so what do you guys think about this? are all scripts bad?

    I dont know the script, but if you paid a thousand dollars for it, you have the right to expect a working and secure script.

    And if there are any problems, the datingpro guys should be here for you to fix it for free. (at least they claim to have a "FREE 20/6 technical support service").

    But again: I don´t know this script and the company that made it, so I have no idea how reliable they are.

    Why didn't you hire a programmer to do one for you? I think that would have been better...

    Not all scripts are bad. Some are worth the money. I do not think finding an external developer is a good idea as you have already paid $1000 for the system.

    Get the developers who made the script or whom you have purchased the script from, to do it for you. They are most familiar with it therefore, they will be the best people to handle it. I'm sure after paying a 1000$, they are willing to provide some support.

    There was rumour going around that the bugs are there deliberatly so people pay them money for "contributer" status - which apparently gets you extra support. In conclusion I think it's 1 big money making scam where no one has a good working site at then end of it.

    Dont buy this software…I got a lot of sql errors and there are no unlimited modification options because the important scripts are encoded. his software is rubbish and is not ready for a live site. It is horribly plagued with bugs, and does not install or work out of the box! I spent ages going page by page fixing typos, font tags, and many other PHP related bugs.
    I will tell you about datingpro. Datingpro owes me well over $5,000 for paying people to do their jobs. They never answer your e-mails or they use the excuse that they never got it. You hear the same crap out of their mouths every day. I have copied several e-mails down over the last year.

      I am not trying to find friends on an online forum, "my friend".

      Anyways, back to topic: Why I was so angry, is that 80% of the people on this forum are not reading previous answers, before they post their own stuff. SamuelK did clearly show and prove that this Datingpro stuff is a scam!

      Every1 that still doesn't believe that is either stupid or affiliated with the scam. Period.

      So I wonder what of the above is true for the guy (he obv. deleted his post now and I dont remember his name) who was still talking about that script probably being "okay", while SamuelK did clearly show, that its not!

      I hope this cleared some misunderstandings and if I angered some "friends" in here: I am not sorry.

    Thank You all for chimming in.

    They did the installation... and the software is working like it should. the biggest problem is that I want to make modifications, and one guy that I hired told me that my best bet is to build the site from ground up. Now I am not sure if he wants just to make more money, or if he doesn't quite have the experience to do the changes, or if the script is in fact no good.

    Basically what should be done after installing a script that offered to the public you should have a unique design for it , otherwise you will be one of many
