It can be easily done. In what format is your product? Should be in Readable-text so easily can be manuplated on the fly... any good programmer can make you such custom script in php...

If I have not misunderstood you. It sounds like something difficult to create.
It will be a combination on the various technologies and requirements below.

1. You are looking for an image recognition and matching program.
2. You will require a huge database of products and their information like pricing, descriptions or how and where to get them.
3. You will require a normal e-commerce to handle your sales.

Number 3 is definitely the simplest. However, to combine it with 1 and 2 will take up a huge amount of time.

From my knowledge, there are currently no public custom scripts that can do this. However, you may make use of the image recognition and matching provided by TinEye. Then again, like I said, you will require your own database of products to match it with. Where will you get this? Are you going to scrape amazon or ebay?

This does not seem easy and definitely not possible by free means. Get a good team of programmers. You will need it for a project such as this.

I can do this for $300 USD. Yes I am new on this forum but I am an experianced programmer with lots of referrals if needed.

What they want can be made and how I understand it, would be very simple to do. Just because there are no custom public scripts that you know of does not mean they don't exist.

If you want somebody to help you construct a system and a business that makes sense... hire somebody with a CTO skill set and plan to either partner with him or bust out a big checkbook.

edt: sometimes it is tactical to have a POS written for you... just keep in mind that's what you're getting

I take offense to these words. Not all PHP scripts are unmaintainable. You don't need a team to do this project, This is something that can be done easily by an experienced professional. All that you will get from using a team is a very high bill.

PHP does not invite nor encourage crappy code as you call it. A lack of personal organization does that.

I don't do just PHP and I am not some script kiddy who thinks the world of just PHP. But I have been using it for my core frameworks for over 13 years. Yes more languages would need to be used for markup but using PHP as the core would make it easier for the owner to learn so they can add their own stuff in.

It's definitively not nice to assume someones skill set based off of a reply you see posted on a forum somewhere on the net. Just because I have the decency to stick up for a language does not mean it is the only thing I bring to the table.

What is the best way to find a programmer?

if you don't even know this simple thing about the language you defend to the death, then i HIGHLY DOUBT you can make any decisions about what is organized and what isn't

You do know that he wants to make the product purchasable from him and not from sites like ebay or amazon? It means that you are not only gonna have to collect and match the links of the sale products to the images but also, you are going to have to keep track on which product is available and take information like size, color, or any other details into consideration. This is a lot of information to handle and optimize. You sure you can do it under $300? If this is true, wow.

Anyway, vip3rGTSr, you would need to provide more details about how you want a user to purchase items from your site. And how you are going to provide them the items after their purchase.

There are already image recognition scripts out there. I have used them before so that's not a biggie.
