godaddy sucks. You should never host with the same people that you registered your domains with.

Why? I have a namecheap domain and was going to use their hosting, would that be bad?

As for godaddy, they support SOPA so don't use them solely out of principle!

I bought nochek.net on GoDaddy, and it took me 3 months to transfer it to my registrar. I'll never deal with them again. I think it's generally a bad idea to host with the people you register your domains with. Their hosting is usually an after-thought money making service rather than an actual hosting platform.

Lesson learned... Make sure your websites are clean of malware/viruses then move them out of GoDaddy. Best of luck!

As security measure check your own computer for vulnerabilities first, then keep up to date with security upgrades in your Wordpress installs and/or other software installed.

I have accounts with Hostmonster and Hostgator.
Just once I was affected by a Wordpress security flaw (I was up and running again after 6 hours of troubleshooting the issue)

I have never tried to host a website with Godaddy (I have bought domains there, of course) and honestly, I'm not keen on giving it a try soon. (Due to massive negative reviews from many different sources)

    Good luck

As almost everyone else has said, GoDaddy may not be the best hosting choice. But you can just as easily run into the same issue with other hosts.

To answer your question - Yes, I've seen the problem you're describing.

You'll want to let GoDaddy know that this has happened. If malicious code is being injected into files via a breach of a script somewhere, it may have infected other users' sites if you're on a shared server. It may have even originated via a breach in another user's website.

You'll also want to search for a script to clean the malicious code from your site, or find someone who will do this for you.

You'll then want to make sure that all of your third party scripts are up to date - like WordPress, Joomla, etc. Security holes in these scripts are frequently exploited. You'll also probably want to change both the password on your WordPress, Joomla, etc. admin accounts. It would also be a good idea to change your password on your GoDaddy hosting account.

I've never used host gator, but the reviews I have read have never been raving. I recently hosted a few sites with web hosting hub. I've been pretty pleased with their level of support. No comment on godaddy, never used them.

I'm novice at this web developing and hosting and I only do it because by default i'm the only IT guy in the family. I host a website through godaddy, I haven't had any issues but I wouldn't mind changing if it was easy enough. I would want to do a pre-paid plan for like 10-100 years so I don't need to worry about the site. Does any one have any recommendations?

    thanks

Just as many have already mentioned, HostGator would probably be a much better option. However, that is not your question. I don't use GoDaddy anymore but I do think it's important to re-iterate something most people overlook... and that is to protect your Wordpress control panel logins with strong passwords. There are so many malicious Wordpress tools out there and a lot of people neglect this with a weak password.

    Fellow Warriors,

I have used HostGator in the past. My WP site was so slow...... All it had was some basic plugins WITH a caching plugin...

I don't know about GoDaddy's "old" hosting platform..... When I saw they had such inexpensive cloud hosting... I had to try it out..... I used the coupon code LOVEHOST. It gives you a half price deal....

I'll let you know how it goes....

    God Bless,

    Rich

I don't like to have my domains registered and hosted with the same company. I tried GoDaddy's Cloud hosting service because it was only $10 a month, but I hated the fact that they have their own custom interface (no cPanel). Plus, when you want to install a new application through their installer (in their interface), you have to wait in line in a queue with everyone else.

Can you believe that it took them more than 8 hours to install WordPress on one of my sites? I finally just gave up on them and moved elsewhere...

I wouldn't use Godaddy for hosting. Heres what i'd do:
Register a domain with Godaddy and host on a hostgator server. Namecheap is also a good domain name regsitrar and they usually offer free whois guard with the purchase of a domain.

I agree, people generally over look this simple way to bring a little added security. Its important to through in a mixture of symbols and capital letters when creating a password that way its not so easy for hackers to guess/ crack.

    Eww, GoDaddy.

I've registered domains with them because I can get ridiculously cheap deals, but I prefer A2 Hosting for my hosting accounts. (I have access to two shared and a VPS with them. All but one of the shared accounts are mine; the other is for work.)

I used to be a GoDaddy customer but they refused to do basic system administration or enable features to integrate with CloudFlare seamlessly.

Curious as to what the issue was here? We have tons of GoDaddy customers using CloudFlare.

      What we have seen:
Some reps get confused at other companies because they don't see their nameservers active. As such, they think that the site actually isn't hosted there.
