Nanacast + Cloudfront + Transparent Player = Headaches

Hi-

I have created several online membership sites in Nanacast (great!)

The videos were simply hosted on Amazon s3, but they seemed to be really slow in loading (and I have had many complaints, some people waiting 15 minutes for nothing).

So.... I decided I missed the boat and should have used Cloudfront. But that still hasn't really made a difference.

I purchased the "Transparent Player" that Josh Anderson (from Nanacast) created and I cannot get it to work in Nanacast.

It is ironic since I thought they would work quite well together, being from the same guy and all......

I wonder if the videos are slow because they are calling on a player (player.swf) from my shared hosting server? And the video files are on Amazon's servers?

It seems unlikely, but I cannot figure out why the videos are slow and customers are upset at paying for --- essentially nothing.

My question is as follows:

1) If I switch to a new player will the videos (in theory) load faster?

2) Or is Transparent Player really worth it? I have tried to hire people to get it to work and they were worse than I am with it...

Any suggestions?

Is there a player out there that will load these cloudfront videos quickly from a Nanacast membership site?

My suggestion would be to work with Transparent Player support until Joe helps you resolve your issue:

    transparent player support desk

Btw... how fast a video loads has little to do with transparent player... transparent player can load any video in as little as 1 second depending on your buffer settings and the bit rate that you encoded your video at. It has more to do with the bit rate of your video and where you are hosting it.

If people are waiting 15 minutes for a video to load... Again this has NOTHING to do with transparent player and EVERYTHING to do with the bit rate of your video, the speed of their internet connection, and the buffer settings you have set in transparent player (which again can be set to as little as 1 second.
