unusual frequent visit from facebook

hi! im new in making websites and one of my wordpress website is unusually visited frequently from different ip from facebook (paso alto and beverly hills location). it started 2 days ago and now my site is getting hit by it about 5 times every hour. i have the same experience 2 months ago with my other websites but it was from amazon aws so i just blocked the ip address of it.

will i loose my traffic if i blocked this ip's from facebook? cause most of them are coming from facebook. i'm planning to install Bad Behavior plugin but i read some negative things about it like blocking google bots.

has anyone experienced this? cause im suspecting this is not really from facebook.

I've received tons of those spam posts with a Facebook link.
Either Facebook does some bad backlinking strategy, or someone just create tons of Facebook spam accounts and for whatever reason, spam their links.

This is how I deal with it: Akismet. Saved me a lot of time from deleting spam.
A few of them however, got their link deleted, and post rewritten = free comment post without being obvious spam.

Why block the IP address if its not causing problems? i.e Eating up EXCESSIVE Bandwidth... Post the IP range and I will tell you who it is?

TG12 read both the red lines.
No referral url = cannot be a referral.

            Spammer, nothing else.

If you can, ban the first all the way through to the last IP. Not one a time, but the first and anyone in between to the last. Might gonna kill a few other visitors, but you get rid of the spammer.

If you're getting hit several times in the same second by the same IP address then you know it is potentially a cracker up to no good. If you know the address isn't from crawler or the IP address is giving you a bunch of 404 errors then block the IP address.

Thanks. I'll just try blocking the IP's for a week and see if it stops. Im sure this not a normal crawler because before it only hits my site once a week just to store the image and description if someone shares my contents on Facebook.
