This question is a good LMGTFY question. It has been asked before (recently even) on this very forum. As for a shopping cart take a look at ubercart.org, it is written in PHP and free to install and use, maybe you can learn from it.

If you are a beginner, i'd suggest to try to make something less complex than "complete online shopping portal". I don't think there is a "tutorial" for this

W3schools.com is the best place to learn. But some of their tutorials are somewhat outdated. You can use World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for latest updates and validation of the codes.

There are lots of sites that can help you on PHP. At first, I used W3scools.com as a guide. The site is very good. And I also used some tutorial videos I found on youtube.

I suggest you skip w3schools, and yourself one of the recommended courses above, or some nice professional book.

Search for php programming books on Amazon, there were a few very good ones there. I don't remember quite well if the one I read was from Wrox or Sams or something
