A question about hosting a static site on amazon aws

I've managed to get a site hosted by creating the bucket with the www.xyzsite.com name and set it up as a website ok.

My question is, I've pointed the url at the amazon endpoint as per the instructions and it all works, but I've done it just by having the www.xyzsite.com redirect from godaddy and selected the mask option.

I'm not sure that this is the best way to do this as I haven't edited and dns settings or created a new cname etc.

Will the way I've set it up be ok...or am I better manually editing cname etc.

The site shows up ok with www.xyzsite.com or with xyzsite.com

    How about getting an Elastic IP, then setting up the domain name to point to that?

    If you want just a static site maybe stick to regular hosting like Hostgator. AWS is tricky and has a steep learning curve. You can learn it by visiting many of the fine blogs out there on the subject.
