Is Domain Re-Direct Bad For SEO?

Hey guys - I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this subject but here goes...

I recently bought a new domain which is going to be better for SEO for my 'offline biz'
The thing is I am going to have to re-direct my old domain to it.

My old domain is a .info & I've had it for about 8 months. It has about 140 back-links to it & is all over the local business directories etc...

My new domain is a .co.uk which is why I bought it.

So I guess what I'm asking here is which is better to re-direct to which?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I've taken a little time to research this for you, since my knowledge is second-hand on this particular issue.. Interestingly, most say you should redirect to the .co.uk... .info domains don't perform as well, and even folks here back that up. HTH!

Generally, "your country" extension domain (in your case .co.uk) will surely do well if your target audience are the people who live in your country. The best thing to do is to have all your quality content in that domain.

I think you are only complicating things by redirecting from your old .info domain to your new domain. Since you have some backlinks sprinkled over a period of time to your old .info domain, use it for some research purposes. Do not use it for business purposes.

Please make use of your discretion; just my 2 cents.
