The boilermaker and the hammer
A boilermaker was hired to fix a hugh steamship boiler system. After listening to the engineer he went to the boiler room, looked around, and tapped a valve with a hammer. Immediately everything was fixed. When the steamship owner received the bill for $1000 he complained and asked for itemized bill. The boilermaker sent back: For tapping with hammer: $.50, For knowing where to tap: $999.50, Total: $1000
