Now a days, VB.Net is very good for the Desktop based programming and of course HTML/PHP for webdesigning

Learn by doing things. Just focus on your ideas and find the language/framework/method to make it real. There are many free/paid resources to provide programming foundation.
    Search Google with these phrase
    - "How to ask smart question" - Eric Steven Raymond
    - "How to become a hacker" - Eric Steven Raymond

These above articles are good place to start. Sorry, I don't have enough post to post link here.

Congratulations! You're starting to learn at exactly the right time. I also started learning when I was a teenager, and it paid off for me later in life.

I strongly encourage you to learn Python. It is powerful, and also one of the easiest languages to learn. At the same time, it is much more structured than most looser scripting languages. Most of the concepts you'll learn will naturally apply to other languages. Once you understand Python, start on C. With a basis in these two, you could accomplish almost anything.

Look at W3Schools Online Web Tutorials. They have handy references, simple tutorials and a "try it" mechanism that allows you to try the examples and see the results instantly.

If you are just starting out, I would suggest learning Java and the Android SDK. Mobile phones are very popular and you will have so many job opportunities as well as possibly making an app for the play store.

Just do a google search for "beginners android tutorials".

Here's a good tutorial to start with

Setting up the environment can be tricky. Let me know if I can help in some way. I'm always willing to mentor someone just like I was mentored. It's good to give back to the community

Prepare yourself on fundamentals of data structure, algorithms and languages. Best to have books with you else you can follow internet sources and materials.

If I were just starting out today, I'd enroll in the free classes at Udacity.com. Start with CS101 ("Introduction to Computer Science: Building a Search Engine") and then move on to the intermediate courses.

I also think that everybody should learn C at some point. It was my first language and I loved it, but I think Python is is an adequate first language and it's easier to pick up.
