Question regarding Paypal automatic redirect

Sometimes when I pay for a product online, as soon as payment is made I am redirected to the download page - without having to click on anything in Paypal to make that redirect happen.

Does anyone know how that works?

Is there some special code you can add to the advanced variables section of the Paypal payment button setup which automatically redirects to your download page URL when the customer has completed payment?

There is the advanced option (step 3 of setting up a payment button in Paypal) 'take the customer to this URL after they have finished checkout' - where you insert your download page URL (which I have done) but it doesn't make it automatically redirect to that download page on completion of payment.


Does anyone know how this is done?

    There is code you can put in your button. It is <input type="hidden" name="return" value="http://www.yourdomain.com/some file.php">

    You can also specify this return url in paypal in your account settings

      Wow. Thank you so much. Where, exactly, do I "Specify this return url in paypal in your account setting" ? Would that mean that problem is taken care of for life?

      And if I were to just use the Paypal email link (instead of the website code) how would I do that?
