Remote License Management Solutions?

hello -

I'm finishing up a project that I'll be introducing next month, but am stuck on the best way to issue license keys...

I would like to be able to have someone buy the product, create a license key from the email & domain, and email the key to them...

Ideally I'd like the license to be verified periodically from a remote machine to prevent multiple uses of the product...

Are there any pre-made solutions out there that do this?

I've been searching, but not finding what I want... I'd rather not build something from scratch, but I will if I have to....

Thanks -

Matt

What sort of application is it? Web, thick client, desktop? What language is it written in?
There are a number of services that do what you need, including the periodic callbacks to an activation/monitoring server.

Hello! :-) My guess is that you're referring to a software application,
but you could possibly be referring to an eBook. If it's a software
program, you might want to look into using a ready-made sales
management platform like DL Guard. The owner might even spot a
mention of the product in this thread through Google Alerts and show
up to give you more details.

If you're referring to an eBook, there are some remote licensing wraps
that you can place on the product. One that comes to mind is called
Product Padlock. I'd provide you with a direct link to both DL Guard and
to Product Padlock, but this account cannot do that yet. Anyway, I
hope you found this useful and helpful.

You could try :: CB Protect :: The Virtual Vault Total Protection System which publishes Virtual Vault - You can use it for Software or PDF - I've used it for software and it calls home from time to time to verify (to the CBProtect Servers). And if your customer ask for a refund, you can turn off their license. However, it's limited to PC's since it creates an EXE and you lose Mac users.

Also if you haven't noticed, web people mostly hate DRM (Digital Rights Management). So you might be better off tolerating a little piracy.

I don't think people actually mind that... they'd just rather not pay for it.
That depends on how it's done, really. Most of the time, as long as it works and it's not too "in your face" I don't mind entering my email address and a serial number to use a piece of software I bought. I think some forms of DRM/Copy Protection go a little too far, though. For example, I absolutely hate having to insert the original CD every time I want to play a game I bought (in fact, the first thing I do after buying and installing a game is look for a "no CD" patch.. and there's always one available.. proof that such annoying DRM tactics don't really work in the real world and never will).

          After reviewing the topic
I have found a solution which might suit your needs.
Please take a look at LAC - License Activation Center
          Software developed by X-Formation company.
Our company is succesfully using this solution which helps us simplifying and automating license creation and delivery.
Because i cannot post any links onto this forum just
type in X-Formation in google to find more information about their products.
