Making WP theme edits. Just to clarify?

I bought a theme from themeforrest.

To be able to edit it, I mean change the layout, the pics, the colours everything, I just need to use ftp to upload it to WP, and there (in my wp-admin) i can do everything I need to for the edits?

I know this is basic stuff. But this is the first time I am trying to do it myself.

Can you recommend a youtube video series or somthing similar that can help me also?

    You need to create a child theme and then add your custom css and any replacement php files as you needs demand. Not for the faint of heart.

    There is a child theme for it already there by the looks of things.

    I'll have to make sure I do a lot of back ups and have money available for a webdeveloper if things go wrong.

      Its often better to upload the zipped version of the theme through the theme section of the Wordpress interface. That way you don't have to worry about unzipping it.

    okay. I've unzipped on my hard drive, but I'll know for next time, just to save time.
