When switching WP themes -- simply "Deactivate" and delete?

I'm obsessed with WP speed optimization. I've recently decided to switch from Thesis to Twelve Twelve theme on one specific blog. To avoid clutter/possible slowness in website speed -- do I simply "deactivate" Thesis under WP-admin and delete the theme? No need for further action under FTP, cpanel, etc? Thanks.

It's only on that one blog? As long as nothing else is linking to it it would be safe to deactivate and delete, which would remove it from the server completely.

Yes if you no longer need them and/or don't like them you can simply delete them via WP admin. I would suggest you have a backup of that theme before you delete it just in case the new ones you find don't fit the bill and you want to go back to it. If there only a few you are trying out then just de-activate it.
