Dow do I block "junk traffic"?

Hi,

I'm getting the same problem again... I'm getting a ton of junk traffic from various .ru sites, but also some .com that are totally irrelevant, rather spam sites.

I would like to block all traffic from those sites.

I don't know if that can be done by blocking the IPs where they're hosted - because they could simply use proxies, modify IP later.

I will anyway disavow them, but this may not be enough - even though I haven't found any links on them to me...

Any better advice?

It's the oldest trick in the book, sites create a ton of fake traffic hoping you'll visit their site to see why they're linking to you.

  yes, they do use proxys but if you find that most of the problems originate from one specific country - don't be afraid to block an entire country.
  I have and have never looked back.

Acutally I didn't see any link to me coming from those sites... what is strange is that traffic does indeed come in huge streams.
