Get Video Loading Quicker on Squeeze page

Hey Warrior members

I have a 640x360 10:51 second Whiteboard video in .mp4 format on my squeeeze page, it is about 70MB . I'm hosted via Hostgator.

The video Seems to be Loading to Slow compared to some i have seen, have you got any tips to make this load quicker?

I Hope this is in the correct Section on the forums!

Thanks!

70MB is too big, that's why it's loading so slow. Do you encode your videos your self? What software do you use for encoding and what is the video bit rate? What video codec do you use?

A 10 minute video shouldn't be bigger than 50MB. Try to encode it at a bit rate: 768kbps
    That should fix the problem.

Once the file is optimized as Joe suggested, you can host the file on a Content Delivery Network for far better performance compared to what you get out of Hostgator. I use the Rackspace CDN for my podcast files.

I recently took a bunch of downloaded videos and ran them through Handbrake- saved a ton of disk space and I didn't notice any loss of quality. Make it smaller first--then decide whether you need to host it with some sort of cloud cms.

Yes make smaller way too big to load. Optimize it and will be faster.

Use Vimeo! Hosting your own videos are always a pain in the ass! Not all browsers play mp4 (such as Explorer and Safari) and even though we all hate Explorer, it sadly makes up most of every website traffic.

always use the best tool for the job, and Vimeo is the best tool for delivering video.
