Light weight inernal linking plugin for Wordpress

Is there an internal linking WP plugin that is known to be less resource intensive (CPU, real and virtual memory, I/O,etc) than the others. Internal linking with plugins uses a lot of resources.
Is there a WP plugin that will help me hard code these links so I don't need a internal linking plugin. Like I could ask the plugin to find 5 instance or "phrase b" on my blog and it would take me to them to hard code the keyword "phase b" with the "phase b" permalink?
Is it worth it to cut other plugins so I can use the internal link plugin? I'm thinking in terms of broken backlinks due to permalink changes or because I consolidated posts. That sort of thing. I would imagine this could get messy.
Also, if there is no plugin (software) to help me do it the hard coding will be way to big for me to tackle.

Is there a WYSIWYG desktop editor that can help me with the hard linking. I would also want it to help me with other formatting problems that the WP editor doesn't have. I sometimes View the source code and cut and paste it into the Text tab of my WP editor.
I would rather have one that is with me wherever an internet connection is but a desktop editor might be OK.
