Resolving Large Number Of 404s
- SEO |
A month or two ago I relaunched my website under a new theme with better SEO, better categorization and improved URLs. Although 90% of it went smoothly we've still had about 5000 404's reported since we made the switch.
Is there any way of addressing these in a bulk approach? I've downloaded 5000 404 errors from Google Webmasters and have it in a spreadsheet, but I cannot figure out how to organize it so that I can fix it.
For example
Old URL domain.com/this-is-a-game-guide-for-a-game
New URL domain.com/game-guide/this-is-a-game-guide-for-a-game
Old URL domain.com/this-is-a-game-review
New URL domain.com/game-reviews/this-is-a-game-review
I have a find a replace tool that would allow me to fix every problem in bulk but the problem is that each category needs to be different. I need to add com/game-guide/for guides and /game-reviews/ for reviews.
Is there a way to highlight/remove entries from a spreadsheet based on pre-defined keywords or anything similar?
