Well, you're going to get a lot of replies like this, so I'll just say it: This question has been asked hundreds of times. If you consult the search box in the upper right-hand side of the page, you will find lots of great info. Keep an on dates to ensure that your'e getting the most up to date information.

Your question is the equivalent of asking you how do you go about sales and marketing (assuming you are an expert in sales and marketing) , SEO like sales/marketing is not a topic that can be covered in a simple forum post.

I write SEO tutorials and guides (for over 10 years), recently pulled them all onto one domain and so far have around 200 articles and thousands of comments (not short comments, my comments are longer than most SEO sites articles) about how SEO works and still have a lot of SEO topics missing.

Although you can learn the basics of SEO in a week or two IF you read the right sources, to fully understand you are looking at years of study and research.

SEO and IM is a self-educating process. Nobody out there is going to tell you how to do it, or what works for them. You'll get plenty of "gurus" who will touch the surface, but it doesn't work.

You end up following their "system" and learning nothing, limiting yourself to that one system, and complaining when it doesn't work.

The way I learnt is through self-education and trial/error. I had a natural flare for building websites, and so I taught myself slowly what SEO is. For a while, I read articles and got bought into incorrect information, and slowly pulled myself away from it all and used only my own data.

Around 5-years ago, I made a news website based on celebrities. I kept hearing, "content is king". So I thought, if I wrote 4 articles a day, I'd bank big. 6-months later, and over 1,000 articles later, I was making $2/month. Says it all. That was 5-years ago.

SEO and IM requires common sense and your own data.

You'll see me and Mike Anthony above debating a lot, and it's because we have conflicting opinions on some things. That's what you need. You need your own opinion, your own data, your own set of results and your own strategy.

The only way you're going to develop those is to build your first website and experiment.

And PLEASE, don't go into SEO with money at the front of your mind - you will fail. Once you've got your mind and heart set on banking big, you'll skip avenues and routes to self-educate yourself and get ahead of the curve. You need to have a passion for this, and you need to enjoy it.
