What's to long for a micro niche domain name?

I am starting a micro niche site and just purchased a long tail domain name. It's looks a bit long tho. It's exactly 30 characters. It gets a good amount of monthly searches and i'm going to optimize around it. But for a micro niche site is this length ok? It's not horribly long but still longer than most.

Example: howtodothisandthatforbegginers.com

It's exactly as long as the example domain from above. Advice and suggestions?

    So, a small website must have a short domain, and a large website must have
    a long domain?!?

    I would certainly run anything through a spell checker if you are hoping to get
    some miniscule benefit from an EMD....either that or use hyphens so people
    and google do not misread it. If that actually mattered.

    Skip the EMD and do something that actually mattered.

      My apologies but I do not understand what you are saying here.

      I already bought the domain. Are you saying I need to add hyphens in it if its that long?

      Also, I'm not even remotely saying "a small website must have a short domain, and a large website must have
      a long domain". I am new to this therefor do not make such assumptions. I am clearly asking here what IS the best.

      And what do you mean skip the exact match domain and do something that actually mattered? As per 4 of my posts here the majority has said EMD for a micro niche site is great if you can get it. Is this not the case?

        I think he was referring to your url is to long.. If you could get a shorter one it would be better. Easier to remember and less to type. Also seems you do not HAVE to have an EMD to be able to rank. Some say it helps and others say not so much.

          In your opinion do you think it is too long? and if it is too long do you think it will effect my ability to get rank in Google or is it a matter of effecting whether someone will click my site or not. Thanks.

            Like a few others said You can still rank with your long URL. I guess if you are just using it to rank and do not care about people remembering your url then go for it..

    No big deal for a micro niche site, although that would have been a horrible domain if you were building an authority site. For me, anything above 4 words is too long, even for a micro niche site. But, like I said, no big deal.

    The domain name is a bit long. Maybe Google won't have problems ranking it but people will surely do. But, on the other hand, people search the web using keywords not site names so if you have the proper ones it will turn out fine. Good luck!

    I think there is no limit for a domain name. But when you choose a long domain name for a micro niche blog then you should select a good name that people can easily remember and should be eye-cache. See more details here How to Choose Good and Effective Domain Name

    Get rid of the fluff (dothisandthatfor).

    Maybe something like (example):
    • howtofarmer.com
    • howtoplumber.com
    • howtoracer.com
    • etc...

      Well I'm trying to target the exact phrase as in my url ()obviously not the one I posted as an example) and the one i bought uses those fluff words. But those fluff words are in the keywords being searched. Will make it harder for me to rank if i dont use them right?

        Even If your targeting those extra stop words (fluff) you don't need them in the domain name to rank a page.

        My advice is create a short/compact domain name & rank an internal page for your target keyword, that way your not limited to a single keyword phrase for the entire domain.

          Thank you for the reply. I bought 6 articles and the domain yesterday. I won't be able to buy a new domain for 3 more weeks as I'm broke till my next check. this is my first niche website so I'm really just testing the waters with this. Should i wait till I have a domain with no fluff words in it or do you think it would be ok to launch the site with its current domain? Or possibly launch the website with the current domain then change the domain to the new one with no fluff when i can afford it and just keep the other domain forwarding? Thanks.

            You've already bought the domain so you have a year before it expires even If you decided to let go of the domain. At the very least use the domain for testing new things related to SEO (that's what I would do).

            Really the question is, are you building the site with expectations of repeat traffic? If you expect repeat traffic keep the domain/name short & compact because traffic isn't going to remember a long drawn out domain/name (not everyone bookmarks domains).

            The long drawn out domain name isn't going to matter as far as actually ranking a page.

            My point earlier in the thread was don't set yourself up to have the domain tied to a single keyword because odds are sooner or later you'll eventually find better keywords that you want to target for the same domain (it happens).

    Hi, Friend I have seen your domain name, you just think in respect to SEO...I'm r8?
    Please think for visitors not for search engine algorithm..because search engine uses for visitors. So whatever you think to better for your website just think like a human ...if it beneficial for visitors or not....that is domain name choosing to site content every thing should be for visitor then Search engine should give value to your site. So your domain is not so natural....use easy technique in future.
