After More Than Two Years, Google Finally Releasing New "Pirate Update" To Fight Piracy

Google Updates Search Algorithm To Weed Out "Notorious" Piracy Sites - Search Engine Journal

I loss about 1 or 4 positions some of my websites. Not sure why my sites were affected by this...
Maybe Google is rolling Penguin and Piracy update simultaneously?

That doesn't mean that there wasn't a Penguin update. The pirate update is not something most IM'ers ever would have noticed.

Google has had a habit over the last 18 months or so of releasing these updates within close proximity of one another. They rarely have done just a standalone update.

I agree. After a quick thinking I edit my posting. Yes, this cannot be just Piracy update.

Probably sampling download/files like they do on Youtube audio when protected songs are trying to be uploaded (rejected). That and obvious page titles that include movie/song titles along with downloadable files/links on the same webpage/s.

They could also be looking at linking out to bad neighborhoods, example crappy sites paying 3rd world uploaders pennies for protected downloads.
