This site gets tons of traffic due to its comments on its forum pages, yes comments Might make more traffic. both in what search engines pick up and people coming back to enage your site. as well as stuff for readers to see of interest to them if the comments are a highlight of your page.

Comments certainly drive traffic to your website and backlinks too helps to drive traffic. Comments are the part of backlinks, if you're getting high quality backlinks for your website then you website gain higher ranking in search engines which also helps in driving more traffic to your website.

Certainly traffic is based on back link which may either do follow or no follow, however the commenting may drive some sufficient traffic to the sites.
I think it is better to do both.

I agree that comment posting is helpful for generating traffic, but your comment should be on top blogs. Otherwise, you will get only a little traffic from there. If I talk about links, then links are very important and play a great role in SEO. But, your links should be natural and not defy Google's quality guidelines.

Quality comments can certainly increase your chances of getting more visitors. It helps but not so much. Backlinks are more focused on increasing your keyword ranking more than generating traffic.

I got really really little traffic from commenting.

Only comment with "anchor text" that will give you traffics to your website. the most "anchor text" you make and link it to your website, the fastest your website stand #1 in google, but before you make an online shop make sure that the keyword you target has commercial intent, high search volume and low competition.

and remember to analize your competitor. is the website has hundred or thousand backlinks? for me .. after i analize hundred keywords and get a golden one with high search volume, low comp and good commercial intent .. I will check the competitor .. how many backlinks the competitor has ..

and from what source .. Google? BING? yahoo? .. then when i get what places they place their backlinks .. I will use that place too .. but only site with high PR that related to my website

Yes comment makes more traffic definitely. I have worked on some fashion blog for some time. In a first couple of days it had only 3 or 4 visitors daily until some Chines girl wrote something completely stupid in one post and started avalanche of comments and arguments that i allowed purely to see when its going to end. After 2 weeks blog had around 60 - 70 visits daily, 90% of that went directly to that one post so ...

Comments do help in generating "some" traffic if they are coming from good standing relevant websites. Don't rely on them though as your core internet marketing technique. Always work on different methods at the same time.

Yes, blog commenting do generate quite good traffic ! And its the reason why blog commenting is always advise. I would say don't put the link in an un peculiar manner rather than try linking things in appropriate way !

Obviously blog commenting can play a big role in driving a huge traffic. Blog commenting not help to get traffic but also help to make a good relationship with site owners and visitors. Don't care either you are getting link dofollow or nofollow by commenting,always comment to get more exposure and good relationship with site owner.
