Google - Word Press Problem

I have a new (2 months old) word press site. When I created the word press site, I also created a separate sub-directory (through the c-panel) on which I put several html pages and linked from some of the word press pages to the html pages.

I just checked Google, and the html pages are indexed, but none of the word press pages are indexed. I checked Bing and the word press pages are indexed.

Does anyone have any idea as to why the word press pages are not indexed in Google or how I can find out what the problem is?

Thanks!

  • Submit the WordPress sitemap to webmaster tools and see what errors you get. Direct WMT to fetch as Google bot and the site should be indexed in no time if there are no errors (ie: robots.txt blocking search bots).

    Things to check:

Check WordPress Dash > Settings > Reading to see if you're blocking search bots. If you are, uncheck that option and upload your own robots.txt to the root folder on the server before doing what I mentioned above in WMT.

Thanks Kung. I re-checked the Readings settings and it was unchecked so that the search engines could look at the site.

After thinking more about it, I believe that if the site was banned or de-indexed, the html pages would not show up. Since they do show up, the problem is with the other pages, and I think that because of the way the site is structured, Google may look at them as being spam. So, I am going to make major chenges.

    Thanks again.

Send me the URL of the site, i ll be happy to check it out for you. While setting up WP there is an option to not allow SE's to crawl your site, you must have checked that option. Look carefully.
Also check your robots.txt and no follow tags on the page.
