Ok so most of you guys think Blog comments are no good.

My question is what about high PR 2-5 (actual page PR) Dofollow comments for tier 1?

Can these be used and help your website in ranking and mainly diversifying your anchor text if they are manual good comments?

Or should we just avoid them at all costs?

If you are that desperate to vary up your anchor text, you are doing something very wrong.

Blog comments are useful for direct traffic when on popular sites. For SEO, they are pretty worthless.

Here is the biggest problem with most of them. For the good sites where you would want a link from, there are usually going to be 100+ other comments. So now your comment is somewhere at the bottom of a page with 150 other links. Not much value in that link.

This is good advice. If you comment on a blog related to your product or service, this is not only a good source of traffic but builds you authority on a specific topic.

Yup. all those out bound links would do more harm then good to your website. Now if you submit your comment and it has to be approved and by some miracle they accept your comment then go for it! but it probably won't happen.

    EXACTLY....

Not to mention many top bloggers have them set to NOFOLLOW so it's hard to get really link juice from them. I would use popular blogs for traffic purposes however you need to be the first 1-5 comments on the actually content.

Create a list of solid high authority relevant blogs and sign up for their newsletter. When they publish you'll get notified so be the first to read through and leave a solid comment. Don't SPAM but add value.

Would probably be better off making a YouTube video & posting your link on high traffic videos that are related to it. Believe forum comments are really good as well

You've gotta get your head out of just looking for links and ranking. Better to be on the lookout for opportunities to drive qualified relevant traffic to your site. Instead of spending hours going after a worthless spam blog comment leave a valuable comment that adds value to the discussion and watch relevant traffic flow to your site as a result.

Traffic is much more than chasing links and rankings.

I don't think blog commenting links will do much. I've tested this on my several project, even if they are really high PR5+ will Not giving you much improvement.

The only way you can move SERP is by doing content relevant contextual backlinks.

If, you are thinking about get ranking through blog comment than I suggest you to forget it. Blog comment is useful to get direct traffic. So for raking you should think about something else like web 2.0, .edu and .gov links. Create unique content.

Blog comments are good traffic source. When you start paying less attention to google and more to funneling targeted traffic to your site you will start seeing results. To comment is one thing but to spam is another. If you can do it naturally do it on those with thousands of views per day.

Blog commenting on niche related website is a good source of not only traffic but also help to boost up the social links to another blog commenter. But the thing is valuable and descriptive comments should be there.

Blog comment doesn't play a vital role in SEO as Most of bloggers provide nofollow backlinks in the comments. However Blog commenting is effective to get quality visitors. You simply have to put the comment which is related to article.

No, blog comment is good for SEO.....

Not only do you build natural links, you also get targeted traffic that further helps SEO.

Keep in mind, that you will be commenting on all types of blog platforms including forums, videos, or whatever sites have blog comment form enabled...

Don't think of putting only clickable links on all sites, some bogs may not allow clickable links, some may not allow even non-clickable links............. use all these blogs to put your link in whatever ways you can...

Blog comments = natural links + targeted traffic + brand name promotion + user's interaction + generating ideas from other blogs

And all these will help in SEO....

I sustain this idea because i still use blog comments to promote my sites.
If you want to have powerful backlinks try to find valuable content blogs that just started and are not full with comments on every post!Your backlinks power will grow with the blog(that helps for SEO) and will remain the first in the older posts(this will help you with traffic).

It depends how you are blog commenting. If you handpick the best blogs in your niche (or you clients' niches) then this can be invaluable to your backlinking campaign. But if you just blast off to tons of autoapprove Wodpress sites using Scrapebox then this is obviously bad. If you're going to leave blog comments then at least read the article or blog post, check if a few other people have commented (not hundreds of spammy links) and go from there.

Like with many forms of backlinking which get a bad reputation...it depends on the quality!

Think of SEO like relationship building...actually contact people and talk to them. You're actually joining in when you're blog commenting on the right posts in the right way. Anyone who says that blog commenting doesn't work is simply repeating what they've heard and doesn't actually have hands on experience of SEO. These are the same people who say article marketing doesn't work, web directories don't work and SEO is dead.

Think about it this way if say web directories didn't work and if it's no point in having listings in them then why do they rank high, get traffic and if they get traffic then why not be in them. Yes no one medium is the only thing that you want to be doing but doing a bit of everything well can work very well indeed.

Blog comment is good for increasing traffic but I did not see any major role in SERP ranking. However, Google counts such links and shows in webmaster tools as well. So, I think blog comment links are useful for ranking as well but did not get any evidence till now.
