google search numbers vs hits

OK so this baffles me.

There is a product related keyword that Goggle's external Keyword Tool indicates gets 3,600 searches per month.

I have a page that ranks number one in Google for the term yet that page has only had 46 hits according to google analytics in the last month.

My page titles are relevant and enticing for anyone searching for that term/product.

Anyone got any ideas why i seem to be missing the traffic?

    the keyword tool is not correct. You also have to factor in 25% or more is competitors tracking themselves

      Hi 2ndAccount,

      If you are new to using the Adwords Keyword Tool you need to be sure that you are selecting exact match and selected the correct language and location setting to get the numbers you are seeking.

      Once you have the correct monthly search number you need to consider that only a small percentage will chose your listing over the many choices that will be present on the SERP. You might try A/B Split testing different page titles and descriptions to learn which will generate the highest CTR.

      Reaching the Top ranking is only half the battle, getting searchers to click your listing is the half.

    I am agree with dburk,
    You have to check that you have selected correct location.
    May be in your selected country is different than your 1st position location in Google.

    The Google keyword tool is not accurate for SEO.

    Those numbers are meant for people doing research into PPC traffic. The numbers shown have very little to do with what people actually search on using Google.com.

    Research about this more online and you will see that the Google keyword tool is not what you think it is.

    A different view here. Your meta description (no - it doesn't help with the SEO) - but is it written to entice people to click on your site? I know that when I'm looking for something, I may pass the first and second ranking listings because the description on the listing wasn't quite what I was looking for.
