Keywords Are Not Indexing In Google

Good morning everyone,
Ive been running into a small problem in regards to getting my keywords to show up in Google. When i first started SEO last year, my webpages with the keywords i placed on them would show up on Google within a week. When it would index, i would start pointing backlinks towards my sites to get it on page 1.
Lately, when I create new sites, my keywords would take months to index, and in some cases they are not ranking at all even after months have gone by.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips I can do to help fix this problem and get them showing up on the SERPS?
