Social/ Web 2.0 Platforms + RSS Syndication

This is either a really bad idea or a pretty good idea.

I was going to create a profile on the big names, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, WordPress etc and then have my weekly content syndicated through RSS to these web 2.0 properties I suppose they would be called.

Would this create a bunch of respected links (with no juice) or just spam the crap out of my content making it duplicated ?

    It will do the latter. It will cause Google to view your content as duplicate content and since the sites you want to publish them on are authority sites and have tons of backlinks, the could rank higher than the original post on your website. So, don't do it. Howevr, you can post excerpts of your posts on those sites with links to the full post on your site.

    Yeah, the only issue with this is the matter of duplicate content. It's really important to either spin or rewrite your article to have 5-10 unique versions. (depending on how much you're syndicating your content?)

    This wouldn't be a problem with twitter or facebook, cause those aren't necessarily for blog posts, they're social bookmarks. But when you start to jump into Web 2.0 properties you'll probably be penalized for it.

    With an RSS feed service, you'd only get excerpts on your social media pages anyway, so there's no chance for dupe content.

    Plus, about duplicate content...Even if 10k people copied a NY Times online article word-for-word onto their profile pages, you honestly think Google would penalize the Times for it? I think duplicate content is more an on-page issue if anything...

    PBMax has got it right here.

    Duplicate content refers to duplicated content on THE SAME WEBSITE. That is an indication of bad on-page SEO practices.

    It does not refer to syndicated content appearing on other websites. Syndicating content onto other websites is perfectly fine as long as it indexes on your main website first.
