How to raise rank of secondary keywords?

Anyone have ideas? Does content come in handy for this? Or more - domain authority/links, etc. ?

For example your main item is glass jars and you have a rank for that and a secondary item on your site may be metal containers. How could you go about raising rank of other keywords as well?

Thanks

Exactly the same way as you rank for your main keyword. On-page and off-page SEO.

Are you limited to a one page website or not allowed to create new content/modify current content?

Use the same approach as for the main SERP(s). Target content at the phrases, backlinks.

Since glass jars and metal containers don't share the same keywords, build more webpages targeting metal container phrases.

I'm more in an security/office products niche ( was using containers as an example) but thanks for the ideas. Backlinks seem to be the hardest to get but I'm looking into finding more link opportunities

Create a page for each of your keywords and optimize them accordingly.

Well... It depends.. You can create new content and optimize the article for this keyword.. Then do a good Off-Page SEO with some good backlinks (just like your main keyword!)

Yes doing same work like you are focusing on your main keyword will help you to get better ranking for secondary keywords.

Does making posts around the content help the product pages for them?

For example if a site sells machines that count money could it give a boost to put out a quality article all about how these machines work? Even if they don't have backlinks to those pages?

In other words do blog posts like these have the same weight they did a couple years ago? Assuming it is quality and not just a spun article or something...

    Thanks
