Should I Redirect (301) or Not?

I have registered an expired domain that has a clean record and contains some high quality links pointing to it. Its listed in DMoz too as well as some educational and government sites are linking to it too.

Now if I 301 redirect it to my another site (that's niche is totally irrelevant to this domain's keywords as well as link anchor text), will it do good or not? I don't have any plans to build any relevant content there on that domain and have just registered it due to its pretty stats. I hope Warriors will guide me in right direction.

If I were you I will not do that, they quality of link pointing to that domain will vanished eventually and they are not that big help.

Better create a new related site using the domain , then send link to your money site from that site.

You can build a mini site on it targeting the same keywords you are targeting with your money site. Then 301 it to your money site once it starts to move up the rankings.

So you managed to find, assess, and buy the domain. But now your asking what to do with it?

    1:301 it.
If you don't like the results,
2:Build a mini same niche site on it linking to your money site.
If you don't like the results,
3:Buy some more pretty domains (Do 1 & 2 with those) and see if they help.
If you don't like the results,
4: Try sell the domains on and try get your money back.

Thanks for the ideas. I was searching for domains relevant to my niche. This one was irrelevant but I registered it just for its pretty stats. Due to the irrelevancy of keywords contained in domain and its irrelevant link profile, I was confused either should I use it for my money site or not I'll try the suggestions and will see either they do work or not. If I get nothing, I'll try to sell and get my money back.

A 301 Redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link juice to the redirected page. These redirects tell the search engines that the old location is to be removed from their index and replaced with the new location.
