Google Local Reviews Exchange

I was told that Google Local Reviews would determine whether my business would show up on the front page of Google. In other words, the more positive reviews I got, they higher I get on Google.
If so, Is there anyone might be interested in exchanging the review?

First, you were told wrong. It is a factor but not the biggest factor in the local rankings.

Next, with the amounts of data that Google has at its' disposal, don't you think they would pick up on whether someones review from across the country or world for that matter, would be legitimate?

I agree that solicited reviews from people that are not actually your customers are always tricky. Why not try offering a discount or special deal to your customers if they post a positive review on the Google site? Print out some stickers or flyers or email them and see what happens!

I am about to ask where you are for exchange and warn you about some might viewed not legit from google's eyes. Local search is not about more positive reviews, it's about more footprints and interaction with REAL customers. Even if you get negative reviews it still proves your business is LOCAL and REAL isn't it?

      Hey Guys,

I'm new to this forum but I strongly recommend against "exchanging" reviews as they most likely will get filtered. Google has a lot of information about each user (IP address, Location etc) and has a strong review filter in place that I've spent a lot of time looking into.

The reviews will most likely get filtered so I don't suggest wasting your time on something that will eventually just go away.

Offering clients incentives to write reviews also is against Google's policies:
"Don't offer or accept money, products, or services to write reviews for a business or to write negative reviews about a competitor."
      (Source: https://support.google.com/business/.../2622994?hl=en)

Getting reviews is a good idea for any local business and the best way to get them is to ask customers while you're with them. Anyone with an Android phone already has a Google account and already has the Google Maps app installed so it will take them about 3 minutes to leave you a review. Make sure they are not connected to your wifi or the reviews will get filtered (same IP).

Google reviews are one of many factors that come into play with ranking on Google Places. To see the full list of factors, I would check out Local Search Ranking Factors 2014 - Local SEO and How to Rank in Google - Moz

The magic numbers are that at 5 reviews you get the gold stars and at 10 reviews you get a bit of a ranking boost. However, I would not collect too many too fast as this also can trip the review filter.
