    Guest posting still works if you focus on publishing posts on authority blogs and avoid low quality blogs and article directories operating under the guise of blogs.

    Guest posting will always work, but it depends on where you plan to guest post. National Geography , CNN, CBS, Discovery, BBC, webmd, and other big names will surely helpful

    Quality guest posts, on quality sites with relevant traffic, will always work. It's something I would mostly do for the traffic and brand awareness, but of course it has SEO benefits as well.

    The point of guest blogging is to get direct traffic. And, on occasion you will get a little SEO benefit if the links you are given are do follow. However, SEO is not the biggest reason to do guest blogging as it focuses on your target customer. It's still a good tool though.

    Stop thinking in terms of SEO, and more about traffic generation. That's key for being successful online. Everyone has become obsessed with rankings and "will Google like this?". For guest blogging, ask yourself, will this blog bring in additional traffic? If yes, then go for it. If you're guest blogging on a site solely for the purposes of getting a link, then you're approaching it wrong.
