Well, purchasing high PR link is always dangerous and what I would like to add up more over here, I am sure you have already heard that Google isn't going to update PR so I don't think that there's any need of purchasing high PR links !

Oh boy!

Google no longer publicly updating PageRank does not mean Google is no longer updating PageRank and using the PageRank data in the ranking algo.

It means we as the public are no longer going to see an up to date PR value of a webpage is anymore. Currently public PR is almost 13 months out of date.

PageRank is still important, but we no longer have an accurate way to measure it and as the months and years pass if Google doesn't update or delete the current public PR values they will be less and less useful. I suspect Google will remove public PR in 2015 if they have no plans to update it.

Yes there's a risk in buying links for PR, be careful.

I look at tumblr as being much more effective for driving traffic. I made blog for certain niche while back. I can post stuff for my other sites related to it and get 50 uniques within few hours. Just from posting.

PR isn't being updated publicly anymore....So you need to use other metrics to gauge a link's potential quality including (but not limited to)

- domain authority
- trust flow (majestic.com)
- citation flow (majestic.com)
- # of outbound links on the page
- is the content relevant to your niche?
- is the site/page indexed by google (if not than stay far away).

It's a sad day and age when we need to use Majestic's data to quantify a link. I can inflate those metrics through the roof with a couple Fiverr gigs, and yet people are starting to believe those are the holy grail

Be careful using any metrics data from Majestic.

Be careful using any metrics data from Majestic.

The objections to using metrics that actually update is getting kind of old. Yes you can manipulate any metric. PR was often cranked up by doing spam blasts as well. Then it would drop like a stone because the liks were removed or made no follow (or never found by Google again)

majestic, Moz and ahrefs can all be used together to get a pretty good picture of the quality of a link. Since you always should check the backlinks regardless you can usually tell when a domain has been spammed by the very high link count.

So saying you can blast a metric up and fake it really doesn't mean it should not be used just as fake PR didn't mean PR should not be used when it as updated

I'm pretty sure I've never looked at the relevancy of a link, and I own the top spots for all of the primary keywords in my niche.

Relevancy is highly over rated in the current SEO game.

It's not safe to buy or build any link if we would follow the strict rule (and 90% of IMers wouldn't rank).
How safe are the PR tumblrs?
For my niches they seem to have positive and lasting effect. But that's my experience. I don't know what other have done, how they tested.

You can see a case study made about tumblrs with PR if you search for "100 PR2 Tumblr Accounts Case Study!" on google.

Purchasing high PR link is very dangerous. If your site PR is 5, and you buy a link from a 6 PR site in your category, it's can be OK. But if you pr is 1or0 and you want to buy a 5 PR link, don't do it.
