Hello everyone,

I have a small business website and for gaining more profit I heard that site is needed to be placed in the top rank. Initially I don't want to invest much money for starting this. Now I just wanted you to suggest me an effective technical SEO audit so that I can learn what my competitors are using and how can I do better than them. I want something from which I would get a fruitful result. I know it's very important for me to have knowledge about that SEO audit. So I need also a comprehensive and user-friendly guide for performing a technical SEO so that I can understand where I have to give focus and from where I have to begin to work.

Hope expert people will suggest me something helpful very soon.

Thanks in advance!

There are so may Online technical Audit tools. Personally Free Download: On-Page SEO Template this is my favorite.

My advice would be however to frame your own technical audit as most of the tools have different parameters and they track different aspects. For example some track the meta data but not the microdata which in my opinion is the most important.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I will definitely try it. And yeah you are right we can't consider any tool for permanent and complete audit.

I'd recommend you learn about Screaming Frog on Youtube. Use JDownloader to grab all the videos.

This will really give the dirt on onpage.

Lots of stuff on basic on page.

Again my best tool is screaming frog by analysing lots of sites that currently rank for a given keyword.

Go on a keyword by keyword basis, not just analysing lots of competing sites as on a domain by domain basis as that's too shotgun.

Look no further than Annie Cushing's Audit Checklist. It covers all the essentials of a Technical SEO Audit in detail, with easy to follow instructions for the the auditor (audit process + how to present to clients).

Her Audit is largely based on the different tabs in Screaming Frog. It's one of the best SEO tools available, and definitely worth the money.

Most online tools are garbage. The best way to audit any site properly is to do it manually, by hand.
