How would you solve this local seo issue?

Hi,

I have a client who is an Architectural Technologist.

Prospects will type in "architect" in the search engines to find his services, however the official chartered body doesn't allow the word "architect" on the website because his specialism is different to an actual architect.

The words that can be used are "architectural" and "architecture", with the aim that eventually people who type in "architect" will find the website. Obviously a longer term strategy.

So I will optimize for those 2 keywords, however, is there a way around this from an seo standpoint?

Build backlinks to the site using anchor text containing 'architect', but make sure you vary your anchor text naturally so you don't incur a penalty. Also, the allowed words are close in meaning to 'architect', so it's possible for the site to rank well for architect.

Start creating some quality links with a variation. Don`t go speedy. Select website which has some relevant links and avoid using spammy links. You will see the difference. As your propect dont want to see that keywords in Meta or contents anywhere so its tough to see results in SERP though.
And if its a local seo issue use local areas terms added with you keywords while making links.

Those are LSI keywords (next best thing), it'll work on the money page combined with strong exact match keyword anchor-text on the external backlinks.
