Best way to get better search ranking

SEO is the first priority before start to develop and design a new website. Without SEO no one can stand in this internet world, but what if you don't know what is going to work?

I am analyze competitors website and pick an article, after that I research on that post article from other blogs, and after reading all the relevant posts I write an new post with some addition. And that's actually help me a lot. With that way I always know what is going to work and what is not. That's how I get better result.

What about you? what you guys think about it? Do you have any suggestion which I must have to know?

    For good rankings, I'd say quality content is really important, quality backlinks as well and, from what I noticed from my own websites, frequent updates. Each time I don't update my website (with new articles) my Alexa rank drops.... not ok!

      Alexa rank? When did Alexa rank become equivalent to Google rankings?
