Image Over Optmisation?

Would this trigger a penalty, i ask as it has been driving me nuts and i wanted to get it out there. Ta.

I have 15 images on a page, (sorry for asking lots of questions) and each one of these images has exactly the same alt tag as the other.

Example of image 1 and 2, of 15, all same alt title.

Image file name call-of-duty-black-ops-11-xbox-360-1

Alt Title Call of duty Black Ops II Xbox 360

Image file name call-of-duty-black-ops-11-xbox-360-2

Alt Title Call of duty Black Ops II Xbox 360

I ask for this reason.

Will Multiple Internal Links With the Exact Match Anchor Text Hurt a Site's Rankings, and if so, would changing the file name alt tag to say keyword image 1, keyword image 2, solve the problem?

That's 15 instances of keyword stuffing.

Look at the Google cache (text version), you'll see all 15 instances as plain text (alt-text).

I thought as much, because the game and the images are of that game, i figured put the same keyword in, as it is that game, and those are the game images of that game being played.

Cache version, would changing the first image to keyword Cover and the rest to keyword image 1, keyword image 2 solve this? I have 600,000 images like this, shit the bed.

I'm looking at your site right now, add your main keyword to the large image & use unique descriptive/relevant alt-text for each of the smaller thumbnail images. Currently the thumbnail images hyperlink doesn't make any sense, clicking a thumbnail removes all the images from the webpage.

...or, with 600,000 images only have alt-text on the single large image per each individual page, leave the thumbnail alt-text blank.

Clicking on the thumbnail should show a large image above it in a carousel.

Can you elaborate on thumbnails not making any sense, thanks, would like to sort this, unsure how i am supposed to write descriptive alt tags for over 600,000 images? It would take a millennium.

Here is the image, notice, if you click the small icons, the large image above should scroll, or you can use the arrows left and right.

Been driving me nuts this has, really should try and work out how to fixate it to one spot.

This is my image traffic, may change if i change the keyword, it used to be 1.7 million, but now 900,000 odd, i have not submitted a sitemap yet for the 600,000, only 32,000 are indexed.

Would i be right in thinking then that only my thumbnails are being indexed, and not my large internal images?

I dont mind leaving the thumbnails out alltogether as who is going to want to search for them, but i would like the large internal images indexed, am i right in thinking they are not shown in the source code then?

As i have 1280 x 720 large images, 15-20 per page, on 33,000 game pages.

Your images are getting indexed just fine. Go to Google image search & paste an image URL in the search box, Google will return your webpage where the image is located.

Your not loading 15-20 HUGE images per page, those thumbnails are smaller images that each have a different URL. You have two sizes of images per each image. The large images are only used one at a time when a thumbnail is clicked.

Thanks a million, so all is dandy, i just need to now work out how i alter the image alt description to avoid penalty, is there no other way than leaving them blank, trying to rank high for images, this is the reason why i keywording every single image on site.

I also obtained and edited all the covers for super high def, this is the reason why we have 400,000 on UK, and 900,000 on USA from only 32,000 images. It is because the image filenames are keyworded, hoping to rocket the image traffic but unsure if this will work if internal images Alt are blank.

Was hoping for another solution but unsure as to whether i will find it. Grrr

Thanks for all the help, chuffed that iv found out i have a problem, could of gone on for ages.

Ahhh, found this bit, would this still index my 15 internal large images as well, have no keyword assigned to them.?

Gee wiz, had this problem for six years.

Going to do this i think, i may leave in the <h1> of each image url

Name of game images on all <h1> of each image page.

<h1> Call of Duty Black Ops ii Xbox 360 Images

And leave the <h1> of the game page <h1>Call of Duty Black Ops II Xbox 360

Hoping this will solve the problem, hoping the <h1> on image urls repeated is also not going to cause a problem, gee wiz, my head hurts.

Iv got several versions above, but these are hyperlinks shown in Cache Text version, is that normal.

Edit to add, iv just looked up IGN

ign:alttag="Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 51081dcbf491afed659f0c12"

So i assume, that:

Call of Duty Black Ops II Cover
Call of Duty Black Ops II Image 1
Call of Duty Black Ops II Image 2
Call of Duty Black Ops II Image 3

And so on should suffice, based on IGN having the same keyword then different numbers and letters after it.

Well, if this is true, at least i don't have to keyword 600,000 images by hand again, that took almost 6 years. lol
