    Do a very thorough research before putting his link on your site. Take not of the following;

    1) Must not be a Porn site
    2) Language of the site must be same with yours
    3) Don't place his links in your footer and sidebar
    4) Don't always accept to place links on your site in exchange of money - Google may find out.
    5) Make sure the site's topic is relevant to yours.
    6) Do a "site:domain.com" search to ensure the site has not been banned by Google
