Backlinks - Quality vs Quantity

Sure they value quality links over hundreds of links If by hundreds you mean junk link blast. That was the whole point of PR (pagerank).

Those social links are nofollow, your not ranking any pages with social links.

Quality over quantity for sure. And the social links aren't quality either. They can be good for traffic, but that's a different discussion.

Quality links that will help your rankings come from high authority, high PR, niche relevant sites.

Social links provides huge traffic to your website and its also measured by Google if it has more followers to your page. Keep updating about your brand or products in all popular websites.

Authority site is way better than having hundreds of low quality links. There is one site I found that ranks on the first page of Google on its promoted keyword with only 1 backlink - (AUTHORITY BACKLINK). And I do think that Google really values authority/high quality backlinks.

Links from social media sites don't count from SEO perspective. Use social media only for referral traffic and branding purpose.
As far as links are concerned, links from relevant and high authority sites are the best.

Awesome info guys!! I thought that social links helps, glad I posted this thread. So lets say my keyword is piano(which it is not), can I boost back links by going to the best piano forum, attaching a link to my website in my profile, and then posting all over the forum?

According to the back links quality is important more than quantity if you get 2 back links in 5 PR website it is more or less equal to 10 small PR back links ranges from 0 to 3 . You should get back links only from your niche websites and page rank is secondary.

Another question, is there a way I can tell of a site will count for a backlink? And do you guys know of any major sites I can get good backlinks from?

Someone told me squidoo which is now hubpages is a good place, your thoughts?

DA And PA is what important these days. Stop looking over PR. With almost anyone can spam and get all these, its important you look over the backlink profile while you are placing backlinks.

Make sure you have top quality. Even 5 high quality backlinks is enough to rank a site rather than having 5000 backlinks.

This is real great information, are there any free tools that will tell me the page rank of a site? And when looking at niches, if my keyword is something like piano lessons, should I go to a piano lessons website for a back link or does anything piano related work?

I read when I first started that it took something like 1,000 PR 2 links to have the same value as a single PR 4....maybe it isn't quite that bad, but it seems sort of close!

Of course quality! Better have 1 backlink from a website with really HIGH Authority than even thousands of LOW quality backlinks...

Definitely quality over quantity. It's too risky to go for lots of low quality links. Just a few good links will do the job

At first try to make links from do follow websites. Because it has a real value to pass link juice.. As i know, most of the social links are no follow....This will not help u to pass any link juice....Also creating hundreds of links from low quality sites, its better to make one link from high page rank do follow websites...It will help you definitely. Large number of low quality links is a negative ranking factor which hard to resolve, so think twice before doing it (even with "high-quality" links). It may take years to get rid of these links later under penalty due to webspam. You can find such links treated as a webspam in Google's webmasters tools in Manual actions section.

For Google quality backlinks matters not the quantity. If you make so many backlinks from low quality sites, its looking spammy for the Google.

First of all it's not the PR it's the DA (Domain Authority) that ranks you. So get PR out of your head

Word Press has a PR of 9 and 100 DA
Blogspot PR 9 with a DA of 92
Bravenet PR 7 with a DA of 94
Just to name a few

No you don't want to flood as many platforms as possibly unless you want to raise a red flag.
You want to drip feed your backlinks, run 7-10 day campaign of 50-100 links a day, then drip feed them for 30 days. The results will be like nothing you ever imagined

I think google does not give any importance to backlinks nowadays instead of penalties

You can find related blogs , directory , forum in Google if you will search for the related keywords. Participate actively on these websites. Also write content and request another blogger to publish your content on their blogs . Do comment on their blog post.

This way you can build quality backlinks and also you can establish yourself as an industry expert by active participation.

Of course they do. I can practically guarantee it from my personal experience and the experience of many of my IM friends. If know its a hard thing to do...but if a webmaster just focuses on creating epic content, instead of lots of mediocre content and then spends the majority of their time sharing it on social media then you'll see a whole lot more targeted traffic and conversions....You've gotta resist the temptation to cheat.

You should focus on creating awesome content. It is the fastest way to get amazing back links that you could not otherwise get....this single technique sets you apart from nearly everyone. If you want to get what the best have, do what the best do...here's a hint: if most people recommend it, then you should probably stay away from it. Most people are not wildly successful.

Quality matters especially if you're doing SEO. Social sites are good for marketing but if you want to rank in Google better engage yourself on building quality backlinks.
