Is there any real difference in terms of seo comparing a standard web page to starting a blog? Is there any difference if I added a new webpage to my site every week as apposed to a new blog post? My question isn't about the quality of the content it's about the structure of the site. Assume great content, is there a difference in if I add a new page to my site every week or a new blog post?

To a hammer, everything looks like a nail. To Google, everything looks like a webpage.

What makes a difference is how the internal links are built, and what shows up in the code.

Post or page, use whatever you want. It's all the same thing.

        Link structure absolutely helps SEO.

The difference between blog pages and pages on Wordpress sites are however the designer of the theme wants it to be. You can disable comments on blogs posts in Wordpress, you can enable comments on pages in Wordpress.

If you are going to try and attract an audience, that reads your posts regularly, Blogs make sense. I build my sites on pages within wordpress, and blog posts are an afterthought.

But the answer is, if you are looking to use wordpress, don't ask in general what's the difference between blog posts and pages. Look at that specific theme and see what's different.

This reply right here hit it on the nail!! lol

Just focus on very high quality content. And make sure your website gets updated with new content regularly.

As simple as that. There are not really much differences.

      I hope this helps!

      Keep up the great work!

      I wish you the best!

      Cheers!

You can change the link structure of a blog no problem. it might take a little more doing if you are running silos because blogs are basically templated sites, often with run of site links. But you certainly can do it.

I have run both CMS style blog sites and regular old html sites. I like the ease with which I can adjust pages in WordPress, and I like some of the other addon type things. Mostly though, I use WP because I found it to be a time saver.

I run only WP now, and I have no trouble ranking for what I need to.

First off, a blog post page would usually allow comments, while a standard page would not. In terms of SEO I wouldn't say there is much of a difference, aside from the length of the link. That may not have much impact so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Due to the rise of blogs last decade, pretty much all of the main news corporations have ensured through stock purchases and takeovers that Blogs are blocked on most social media websites these days, and also downgraded in search engines. From my own experience, most blog posts these days only enjoy a temporary existence on the net. Some people I know have transferred from WordPress to static websites and feel that has improved things for them, but I have not bothered do to it myself, at the risk it might be a total waste of time.

I know your going to ask me to verify all this, and I don't really want to take the time, however in addition to your own searches, you can read this as an interesting launching off point:

No difference in structure. To google all pages are considered as web pages. But due to high crawling the blog posts gets indexed and crawled easily in comparison to adding a new web page every week. So, it is beneficial to add blog pages for better indexing..

Blogs are usually better optimized for targeting keywords, but there is not a big difference, since you can easily optimize standart page.

I would have to disagree. Most of todays premium WordPress themes are using HTML5 and schema.org structure. http://schema.org/

If you are using a theme that has this built in then a blog post more than likely has the schema.org type of article. The content of your article would also be wrapped in the HTML5 tag <article>. These things are noticed by search engines.

If you are writing something that is meant to be a page on your site that people would want to see forever, then it should be a page. If you are writing something that is more of an article and you want some user engagement then go article.

The other main difference in the two is the way they are structured. A page is hierarchal meaning it can have parent and child pages. A blog post can belong to categories, but a blog post can not be a sub blog post of another.

Hope this makes sense, let me know if you have any more questions!
