best way to build backlinks?

Hey

I would like to get everyone's input in what they find is their best method for building back links in order to have their article/website rank on the top 4 of page 1 of Google.

  Looks like you got in before me but you gave some nice resources there.
  
  Don't forget about those web 2.0 sites like squidoo/hubpages/wetpaint etc which will provide you with both traffic portals but also with good backlinks as those sites improve over time!

  Try using Free Traffic System. You can submit your old articles and FTS has a feature to let you spin it easily and post to 30 blogs in their system. For free membership you get 2 links per article so that's 60 one way links. Obviously besides getting one way links, you get traffic too. I've come across many people who have had great success in getting many one way links and higher search engine ranking.

Forum submission is a great way to get relevant backlinks, in addition to article marketing and social bookmarking.

Best way is to tediously research one site after another in your niche and carefully plant a quality backlink by hand while staying away from mainstream sources of backlinks.

What I do for this is,
1. ontopic blog comments,
2. get some links from off topic, quality blog which have decent PR.
3. Blogging on blogger.com
4. Publish fresh articles with 300-400 words on EZA, goarticles & on my blog
5. Get bookmarks from 15 sites daily for 3-5 days
6. Submit my site to story submissions sites

I think social book marking, forums and blogging those are good way to build quality back links.
