Ranking a small window cleaning site

Hi,

I am currently in the process of ranking a small window cleaning website for the term 'window cleaning (location) and they are second.

The first place spot is being held by another company.

I have done a range of link building techniques, however, would it be worth creating a few web 2.0 properties from wordpress.org? I will create a few posts and then link to the site directly from the web 2.0.

My question is; is it worth doing this even though there's no backlinks going to the Web 2.0? Or shall I create a tier 1 wordpress blog, and then a tier 2 wordpress blog and buy a fiverr gig to blast the hell out of the tier 2?

Have you gotten any citations? What about from local blogs? Try getting featured on some local sites with links back to yours.

Then dissect your competitors link profile and duplicate it.

As far as Fiverr goes, if this is the actual business' site that you're working on, do not use any Fiverr services. The amount of time you'll spend finding a decent provider would be better spent paying more to ensure the services are performed properly, and not a bunch of spam.

If you personally own the site and only using it to generate leads, a Fiverr gig would be fine, but risky.

I would start by getting citations and then dissecting the link profile.

Before bothering about that, you need to figure out what they are doing to be ahead of you. They might have a full blown SEO campaign going that you won't be able to beat with some real money investment. Or, they might simply have a couple of links from a couple of local sites, all of which you could easily get features on as well.

Go over to either MajesticSEO, ahrefs or OSE and stick their URL in and find out what they are doing to be ahead of you, then copy them.

It's good to build up more varieties of links coming into your site. Although it might not get you to #1, it would still be worth doing with spare time. Best is to do it manually.. Maybe something like this:

    1) You build 5 web 2.0 sites across different networks.. Wordpress.org, Tumblr, EduBlogs, Blogspot..etc
    2) You write seperate unique articles 300-400 words in length, with a link to your money site mixed in each.
    3) You build links to each of those posts with social bookmarks, blog comments, and similar. I wouldn't go Tier 1 Web 2.0 & Tier 2 Web 2.0

Once you've done that, consider also submitting into Citation websites like Manta, Yelp, YellowPages..etc.

Those 2 things in itself should give you a little boost on the backlink part..If that doesn't do it, you may want think about looking into the content on the page.

It will probably be a waste of time if you don't build any tier 2 links since the web 2.0 blogs don't have any authority of their own.
