Ranking it is another story though

There is a big difference between being indexed (listed) and ranking and a big difference between fast and right. You can get a site to rank quickly using blackhat but it will also lose it's ranking fast.

I think it's will be good to tell about the characteristics of high quality backlink rather than giving some sources. and u need high quality content posting like blog posting, article posting and press release posting.

I use the following technique for most of my toughest keywords :
- At first create some 1st tier links using SEnuke XCr.
- Then I create a video and post it to Youtube which links back to the website.
- Then I create some profile links using Xrumer as 2nd tier links.
- At last I create some 2nd tier blog comments.

This strategy works greatly.

Just create a webmaster account and submit sitemap and you will get listed in Google. But it docent end there, you need to build a lot of content and do a ton of SEO work to get listings.

Get a good ebook and start reading.

You need to learn byself SEO, because each people will say one strategy, but it is with you what is best strategy will works fine for you.. Remember: Google change their algorithm everytime, create backlinks with caution!

There are lots of SEO techniques, we can not differentiate it as a new or old. You have to try out your own strategies which will work for your site.

As long as you write good quality content (no copy paste, no article spinning and so on) you should not have any trouble getting indexed by Google. Also, reading about SEO can't hurt, if you have the time, look through the threads of the forum or look for relevant SEO blogs to learn more about it.

The OP question is asking about getting a web page indexed in Google, this is done by pinging Google that a new web page has been created or updated.

1) Wordpress blog posts are automatically pinged to Google, similar platforms do the same.
2) Submit a sitemap and notify of new releases via Google Webmaster Tools
